Blakie Deleston Jr Obituary

Blakie Deleston Jr (Scooter), age 49 passed away peacefully at his home in New Hartford, CT on Saturday March 28, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Blake (also known as son, dad, papa, uncle Scooter, friend) will be remembered for his great sense of humor, being a great storyteller.  His tag line when laughing, “ … you stupid”. It didn’t matter whether he told a story about a good or bad situation, he always made it funny. As a late teen he and his friends Donald, James, Stewart and Tony started a rap group “The Royal Court” managed by his sister Theresa. They performed at venues all around the Greater Hartford Region. Stewart visited with him often in his last days to reminisce about those times and to keep his spirits up. He enjoyed listing to rap music, a good cookout or party and basically any gathering that meant spending time with his family and friends.

Prior to finally going into Hospice, Blake spent many hours having his oldest niece Tyresa drive him around and talk. Their relationship was deeper than any of us could have imagined. During his last days Pamela was a constant reminder that his final wishes were honored: To go home for hospice; Spend time with his children; Have his mother cook his favorite meal, and a final gathering to celebrate his life. His family truly flocked together to ensure his comfort and care. His daughter Shakia, niece Tyresa and Aunt Ruthann used their nursing skills to maintain his comfort during his transition. They took designated shifts and his nephew Tracey took extra shifts to assist in the care of his beloved uncle. His mother Theopal was persistent in letting her son know that she was going to be strong, she loved him, and it was ok to let go. He was loved.

Blakie Deleston Jr, a graduate of Windsor High School, Windsor CT he served in the US Navy; Worked as Debt Collector and Paralegal for many years. He was an active member of Bethel AME Church in Bloomfield, CT. He is survived by his mother Theopal Herbert of Charleston, SC; Children Shakia Deleston (Tryshawn Colye), Iesha Simmons, Tyler, Blake Simmons, Balil Simmons, Bandella Simmons, Shamiah Deleston, Malik Simmons, Maliki Deleston, Mahki Deleston, Jael Deleston.
