Barbara Patricia (Patsy) Linda, 78 of Windsor, Connecticut, wife of the late Horsford Cyrus Aimey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Trinity Hospital. She was born in St. Michael, Barbados on February 26, 1947, daughter of Rev. Desdemona Lindo-Layne and the late Clyde Lynch of New York.
Her secondary education was at Parkinson Memorial School in Barbados; and her tertiary education was at Greater Hartford Community College, now the Capital Community College, where she was awarded an Associate Degree, and later the American Institute of Paralegal Studies where she was awarded a degree in Legal Assistant Studies and a Paralegal Certificate.
Patsy worked at Gertz Supermarket in Barbados before immigrating to the United States of America in 1970. Here she worked in cosmetology before joining the Hartford Insurance Group as a legal secretary and later Aetna Life Insurance Company as a paralegal. Her working life also included stints as a real estate agent, and a Pharmacy Technician at Neighborcare. Post retirement, she utilized her love of driving to chauffeur for Premier Limousine Company.
From very early Patsy had an interest in service and gave her all in several organizations. She was a cub scout leader at Hazelwood, the Boy Scouts Headquarters in Barbados. In Connecticut, she joined the Barbados American Society of Hartford, and served as president for 10 years. During that time, she arranged many functions and brought many entertainers to perform; the most distinguished guest, the Late Prime Minister, ‘Tom’ Adams of Barbados.
Patsy was raised in the Collymore Church of the Nazarene where she participated fully as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir, and also in youth worship. Her service continued when she moved to Connecticut; She was a member of St. Monica’s Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Daughters of the King and held the post of treasurer.
She was also affiliated with many organizations including her Sorority, IOTA Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc, the West Indian Social Club, and the Sportsman's Athletic Club where she was inducted into the Cricket Hall of Fame. As coordinator for its 2001 Humanitarian program, she was instrumental in helping to raise $10,000 for a youth hotline in Barbados which supported distressed youth.
Barbara also served as a Justice of the Peace and officiated many wedding ceremonies, her last, only two weeks ago. She was also a notary public and seldom charged for her service.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Rev. Desdemona Lindo-Layne of Barbados; her sisters, Maria Walters of Brooklyn and Sandra Lindo of Staten Island New York, Yvonne Lindo-Banks of West Hartford, Dr Hazel Lindo-Carrington and her husband Ian Carrington and her brother Clayton Trevor Lindo and his wife Sandra Lindo of Barbados, her adoptive sister Veronica Ashby, New York; Her nieces Prisca Walters and daughter Sydney (Atlanta Georgia), Sonia Alleyne and daughter Andia, Ria and Kori Carrington, (Barbados) Amanda and her husband Taylor Warinsky of Windsor, Melanie Banks of Massachusetts, and her nephews Way Walters of Florida and Kerwin Lindo of Barbados; her very dear friend John Davis of Hartford, her best friends Connie Drake of Bloomfield, Marlo Smith of Hartford, and June Barrett of Hartford; her cousins too numerous to list, Joan Moore (Canada) and siblings, Hattie Ishmael and siblings, Sandie Worrell, Mark Lynch and siblings, Anthony Lindo and siblings, and the Ashby family, New York.
Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
