Barbara Lee Obituary

Barbara Marcano Lee, age 91  passed away on May 22nd, 2024 at the Westside Nursing Home after a long battle with Dementia. Born March 2nd,1933 to Leonard and Margarita Marcano, Barbara was one of 12 children. Her parents died while she was still young and she was raised by her eldest sister, Julia, whom she always considered a Mother. 

 

Barbara moved to the United Kingdom in 1961. She made friends easily and worked hard as a Nurses Aide. Her primary goal being to reunite with the children she left behind in Trinidad. By 1963 Barbara had sent for her children and they were living together in London. In1967 she married Samuel Lee who was also from Trinidad. 

In1981 she moved to the United States and settled inHartford, Connecticut.Once again she worked hard and made a life for herself and any of her children that wanted to join her. She worked as a Nurses Aide and then worked for Colt Firearms. 

She was a devoted Mother but even more so to her grandchildren, some of whom, she raised.

Although Barbara worked hard she also knew how to have a good time. She was an excellent cook and known for her Roti and curry. Barbara is survived by her children Sandra, Marlene, Victoria, Anna, Wayne, Roger, Joanne, Arlene, Lindy and the 30 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren that has grown from her root also Jason, a grandson that she raised as a son.

Barbara is also survived by her Sister Eileen Martino and her brother Lennox Marcano. Barbara was the foundation that this family grew from. She will be truly missed.
