Arnena S. Payne

Arnena S. Payne, 82, of Bloomfield, CT went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born in Hartford, CT on September 1, 1934 to the late Andrew and Willie Frances (Williams) Stephens. She attended Hartford Public High School and Hartt School of Music, where she learned to play the piano. She worked for over 25 years and retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. Arnena gave her life to the Lord and joined the Mount Olive Church Ministries under the leadership of the Rev. Goode S. Clark. She was a faithful member and served with the Senior Missionaries, Booster Choir, Flower Club and also worked as a coordinator with the Food Pantry Ministry. Arnena was devoted to her family and always had a word of encouragement to those she came in contact with. She was a strong, caring and giving woman with a heart of gold. She loved God and her church and encouraged those she came in contact with to do the same. She leaves to cherish her memory, her five daughters, Stephanie A. Monroe of Bloomfield, CT, Judith K. Payne of East Hartford, CT, Cynthia P. Lee (John) of Portland, OR, Sharon L. Payne of West Hartford, CT, Rose Y. Payne-Greene (Earle) of Hartford, CT, two sons, John K. Payne, Sr. (Nadine) of Temecula, CA and Stephen M. Payne, Sr. of Portland, OR. She also leaves 23 grandchildren, granddaughter, Tenisha W. Payne, 51 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard N. Payne, Sr., daughter, Andrea E. Payne, son, Richard N. Payne, Jr., brother, Andrew Stephens, Jr. and grandson, Stephen M. Payne, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Mount Olive Church Ministries, 20 Battles Street - Hartford, CT with calling hours from 9 a.m.- 11 a.m. and service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the State Veterans' Cemetery 317 Bow Lane - Middletown, CT 06457. Funeral arrangements entrusted to All Faith Memorial Chapel - 90 John Fitch Boulevard - South Windsor, CT 06074.
