Annie M. Craft was born in Washington, D.C. on September 26, 1940.She was married to the late George A. Craft, and from this union came four children: Robert E. Craft (Michelle), Anthony B. Craft, Sr. (Regina), Gregory A. Craft, and Cynthia N. Miller, (Antaughn) She is the second oldest of her five brothers and sisters who are: the late Samuel B. Davis, Yvonne Womack, late Simpson Reedy, and Harvey Reedy and Frances Brock. Annie came to Hartford, Connecticut in 1968 with her four children, and began working in the banking industry beginning as a mail room clerk, and switchboard operator. She was promoted to a bank teller and later worked in operations. She worked for the same banking corporation for 22 years. She is the matriarch of the family, helping to raise ten grandchildren: Sean, Christopher, Chereese, Anthony, Jr., Janae, Amber, Daruis, Jonathan, Deonte, and Jason, three great grandchildren: Shyasia, Samya, and Jayce, her God-children, and a host of nieces and nephews. She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the mother church - Way of the Cross Church of Christ, Inc. in Washington, D.C. Annie was a pillar in her church community and a long-time member of Bible Way Temple Nation, and former member of the H.C. Brooks Memorial Chapel of The Way of the Cross Church of Christ, Inc. and former member of Greater New Life Church and Worship Center. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Administrator of the Christian Education Department, Youth for Christ President, Missionary, Choir member and Church Mother. She earned the Evangelical Training Association Foundational Church Ministries Certificate, and Her love for teaching the word of God gave her inspiration and faith to endure her journey of challenges Her love for people helped her form lasting friendships wherever she went. She was given the name - "Mother of all Mothers" because of her nurturing and caring spirit. We will always remember her feisty character and her high soprano voice. Annie loved to play board games and to put puzzles together. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and she loved dogs, especially her beloved Poochie and her “granddog” Saber. She was known for many different quotes, her most famous: "Take what you got and make what you want." Mother Annie Mae Craft always wanted us to know "May the work I've done speak for me." A celebration of Annie’s life will be held at Bible Temple Nation Church on February 5, 2016. Calling hours will be from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, with the service to follow immediately after. She will be interned at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery on Saturday February, 6, 2016 at 10:00 am. Flowers can be sent to Bible Way Temple Nation, 3053 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06120, but only after 12:00 PM on Friday February 5th.
