“Paulie” “Mongoose” Alfred Cowie, 75, of Hartford, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2024, at Hartford Hospital, with his children by his side. He was born on May 1st, 1949, to Rudolpho Cowie and Jane Garden in St. Mary, Jamaica. Alfred was the first of 6 children: Alfred, Shirley, Precious, Anthony, Beverly, Sunny, and Angela. Alfred was a beacon of hope in his community and worked as a lifeguard and fisherman. Alfred was known for his quiet demeanor, generous heart, and infectious laugh. He met the mother of all his children while living in Jamaica. Alfred and Patricia had four children together: Kevin, Dalton, Oneil, and Anniea.
Alfred moved to the USA in the early 1980s; he later helped his children and their mother migrate. Alfred worked at Hamilton Standard, Pratt & Whitney as security, a yellow cab driver, and a senior bus driver in retirement. He loved hanging out with friends at the “Old Boys Club” in Hartford, CT. He loved to laugh, travel, and enjoy life. He loved his home country of Jamaica and would frequently visit.
Alfred and Patricia raised their four children, Kevin, Dalton, Oneil, and Anniea, in a home filled with love and laughter. Alfred is remembered for his love of music. His favorite artists are Gregory Issac, Dennis Brown, Peter Touch, and Bob Marley, whom he plays frequently. Alfred loved to laugh and had a unique laugh you could hear a mile away.
At All Faiths Memorial Chapel, a memorial service celebrating Alfred’s life will be held on October 29, 2024. His family invites attendees to share their memories of Alfred, who made a lasting impact through his gentle presence and generous actions.
