Abraham Eugene Betts (Gene) 63 of Windsor, CT, loving husband, son, father, Brother Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Uncle and Friend. Departed this earth on Tuesday April 4, 2023, to go to his heavenly home. He was born to Mr. Abraham L. Mathis and Mrs. Laura L. Betts-Smith June 1, 1959, in Hartford, CT where he attended Hartford Public Schools and served in the military (Army). Gene married the love of his life Judi Francis Betts whom he affectionately called (Gladys).
The special bond they forever shared showed how much they loved each other. They took trips together laughed together and smiled at each other in their own special way, they took their vows the way God had intended. Gene had been a member of Victory Cathedral where he looked forward to and enjoyed worship and fellowship services.
Gene loved his Victory family, one of his favorite scriptures was Psalm 91. He was an extraordinary man with incredible love for his family and friends. If Gene had your phone number; trust and believe you were going to get a call.
He loved to talk to his family every day especially his mom, his uncle Jesse, and sisters, and brothers. Gene’s favorite NFL football team was San Francisco 49ers.
Gene is survived by his wife Judi Francis Betts, his parents Abraham L. Mathis and Laura L. Betts-Smith and Stepfather Clifton Smith (Sunny), his children Kimberly Cooper, Antoine Cooper, and Jazz Betts, Siblings Dorothy A. Mathis, Patricia A. Betts-Smith (Kenneth Smith), Charles Betts, Sara Betts-Corbin (Lionel Corbin), William Betts, Sister in-laws Beverly Francis Ward (Lucious Ward) Louise Edison, Brother in-law Anthony Francis (Sheila Francis) Eddie Edison, and Bill Edison. Special Uncle Jesse Betts special friend Tonya Briggs and host of nieces, nephew’s family, and friends.
Christ has come to take him home, although we are sadden that we no longer have him here with us. Heaven has a place waiting for him.
We know that his heart is filled with joy! His soul is singing to the Lord our Savior, “How great thou art.
