The beloved Willie (Will) James Jr., 52, son of the late Willie James Sr. and Annie James Curry, was the second born child out of three children on June 8, 1967 in Middletown, CT. He departed this life peacefully in his sleep on March 29, 2020. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Zion First Baptist Church in Middletown, CT.

Willie was educated in the Hartford Public School System, where he was a part of the “Rawlson Family” and known for his charismatic personality. He was a 1985 graduate of A.I. Prince Technical High School, and after graduating high school, joined the Navy for a short period of time. Willie then started working at Elmer Fuel as a Service Technician in Hartford, CT for nearly ten years. He was gifted with the skill of being a handyman and was self-employed making his own work plumbing. Anytime that someone called him in a crisis, he would soon be on the way to fix the problem with his partner Clayton. As a child, Willie and his siblings would always be dropped off by their father as soon as school ended in South Carolina to spend the summer with his maternal grandparents. He enjoyed spending time in the south playing and getting into trouble with his cousins by running barefoot outside around the house, trying his grandma’s dipping snuff and skinny dipping in the creek. Willie was a very family-oriented man who cared and loved them all dearly and was known as the “King of Dance Floor” or “The Life of the Party” at every single-family event you would see him with a toothpick in his mouth and one behind his ear. He always turned his music loud no matter the song and he would know all the words always and would sing to you; one of his favorite songs was “Party Like Back in the Day by T.K. Soul”. The Queen of his life since his first breath was his mother, and they have an unbreakable bond that words cannot describe. The pride and joys of his life that made his heart complete was in his seven children. He had his own unique and special bond with each one on of his kids and would make sure to spend time with each one of them individually. Willie’s baby girl Syniah, his little princess, he enjoyed every single moment with her, his eyes would twinkle while looking at her. Whether he was tossing her up in the air for a hug, buying her newest toy, or just playing on the floor because he cherished each moment with his precious baby. Willie’s famous saying that he would want to tell everyone right now especially his kid’s is: “See you Later and Never Goodbye”.

He was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Arthur Johnson and Annie James Dowdy, maternal grandparents Rufus and Inetha Nesmith McKnight, two aunts, four uncles and four cousins.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories his mother Annie (Mayous) Curry of Hartford, CT, daughter Tamica Eady of Hartford, CT, sons Willie D.
